Why Ritual Hot Yoga? 

THE TEACHERS

At Ritual Hot Yoga, we want to ensure that you are continually advancing in your yoga practice. To ensure that you never find yourself falling stagnant in your practice, every class has two teachers present. The lead teacher guides the progression of the class and the assisting teacher provides hands-on adjustments to every student.

THE CLASS

The Signature Ritual Hot Yoga class synchronizes your breath and each movement with the beat of the music. The hot yoga class builds until the climax, where we put everything together and practitioners of all levels move one beat, one breath, one movement. Uninterrupted flowing in combination with detailed posture break downs allow for rapid advancements in your practice. Assisting teacher ensures that everyone from brand new yogis, to the most seasoned yogis get a customized experience. When you breathe and flow with each beat of the music, you hear bumping in the background, you have no choice but to let go of your mind, drop into your body, and get lost in the trance of your practice. Let the rhythm penetrate your body and let the beat guide your breath. Throughout Ritual Hot Yoga classes, teachers call out levels 1 through 4, to ensure that beginning practitioners and advanced yogis alike, can make the most of their time on the mat. The ongoing advancement in your practice, ensures that your body will continually transform.

THE METHODOLOGY

TWO TEACHERS: At least two teachers conduct all Ritual Hot Yoga classes. The lead teacher will direct the progress of each class, while the second teacher comes around to every single student and provides one-on-one adjustments. The assistant can support newer students or anyone working through an injury.

YOGIS ADVANCE: For the more advanced yoga practitioner, the second teacher will support by deepening the experience of postures and providing hands on adjustments or individually cueing students into a new variation of a pose they have been trying to master. This dynamic duo creates an unparalleled advanced yoga experience.

PEAK POSTURES: In addition, each week all teachers at Ritual build their hot yoga classes centered around the same peak posture. The goal is that all levels of practitioners have an equal chance to advance in their practice. The goal is that students are able to master the peak posture by the end of the week.

CREATIVE SEQUENCES: Every teacher will sequence a different combination of postures together in their own creative way. In addition to a peak pose, each day of the week, the instructor will target a different area of the body to focus on intense strengthening and lengthening in this key area.

Let’s be honest, life in today’s modern world can get hectic and busy no matter what we do. There can be a lot of barriers that may prevent us from making it to your mat, but at Ritual we believe commuting your hot yoga gear should never be one of them.  Whether or not you live a luxurious life off the mat, at Ritual Hot Yoga, we believe all elements that surround the practice should be just as divine as the class itself. There are spacious showers, cozy couches, and candles burning every time you enter any one of our hot yoga studio locations. Welcome home. At all Ritual Hot Yoga Studio locations, we provide complimentary hot yoga mats, towels, and water upon your arrival. Simply wear your favorite hot yoga gear and we will take care of the rest.

THE HEAT

The heat of the studio penetrates your skin. All Ritual hot yoga classes are conducted in a beautiful studio room heated to 95 degrees. The heat present within each Ritual hot yoga class is cultivated with the perfect blend of radiant heat and forced humidity. Let your body get hot. The heat creates a level of intensity throughout the practice that pushes you to discover new boundaries within your body. Ritual teachers support you to push past those boundaries,  melt away the perceived limitations you’ve created for yourself, allowing you to focus on the beauty and strength within. All of our heated yoga studios throughout the city of San Francisco were designed to detox the body and mind. Whether you have done a great deal of heated yoga in the past, or you’re brand new to the practice of hot yoga, be prepared to sweat like you’ve never ever sweat before.

THE SPACE

Your time on your yoga mat is your sacred time. It is most likely the one time of day when it can finally be all about you. There aren’t many opportunities throughout your day when you have the chance to slow down, close your eyes, and turn inward. The signature Ritual Hot Yoga class always begins with a five-minute seated meditation, where you close your eyes, surround yourself with darkness, and tune in to ground yourself for the rest of your practice. When we practice, it’s easy enough to get caught up in our thoughts, so the last thing that we need is additional distractions, such as what the person on the mat next to us is wearing or doing to take us away from the presence of our breath, out of our body, and ultimately away from the present moment. All Ritual Hot Yoga classes throughout San Francisco are conducted in a yoga oasis lit only by candlelight. The candlelit yoga room supports you in focusing on your breath and your body. The tranquil effect of the warm room combined with the dim glow from the candles, instantly helps you relax, leaving the rest of your day behind. The darkness helps us to get more comfortable going inward, understanding what truly matters underneath it all. In letting go of distractions, we understand there is no reason to be afraid of the dark.

THE MEMBERS

RELEASE: Once you find yourself in post-savasana massage bliss, wiping the sweat from your brow with your eucalyptus towel, feeling like you met yourself for the very first time, it is time to officially join the crew.  Ritual members are guaranteed to see a transformation in their body.

THE WHY

There are tons of reasons why you should indulge in sweat yoga. When practicing sweat yoga regularly you will find your strength and flexibility increase, you will improve your balance, enhance the health of your heart, lower your blood pressure, enhance your mood, and strengthen your concentration. In addition, students find that when attending classes regularly it becomes easier to manage a variety of health conditions such as insomnia, depression, as well as all types of chronic pain. Practitioners notice they have more energy throughout the day and an easier time concentrating on their most important tasks. The sweat yoga practice was designed to detoxify all parts of your body, which aids in the optimization of all bodily functions.

Throughout any sweat yoga class you will find your heart rate goes up because of the heat, which causes an increase in cardiovascular activity and supports you in burning more calories. The heat also helps to spike your metabolism levels so that your body has the ability to rapidly breakdown glucose in the body. This process supports you in losing weight and can help ton up your body.

Practicing in a heated yoga studio room with varying degrees of forced heat stimulates the lymphatic system, which is responsible for eliminating toxins from your system.

Detoxifying the body throughout the process will remove any harmful substances from your system that your body may have been storing. The heat present throughout a heated yoga class, promote the removal of toxins through the skin. Students often experience an increased craving for water throughout the course of the day because of all the toxins being flushed out of the body.
